COS Statement on Anti-AAPI Violence

Community Organized for Solidarity would like to express our solidarity with the Asian-American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in not only Belmont, but in Boston, in Greater Boston, in Massachusetts and beyond. Hateful discrimination and brutal acts of anti-Asian violence are ongoing and have been escalating since the dawning of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020. The roots of this systemic violence and discrimination are deep in American history. The current divisive climate in our community, our state and our nation only exacerbates the dangers posed to our AAPI community by everything from so-called micro-aggressions to criminal acts of white terrorism. We condemn all acts of anti-AAPI violence at the same time that we commit to educating ourselves and our community so that all of our AAPI community members will feel safe, supported and secure in our community and beyond. We stand with you in solidarity.
